Day 1 | Arrival – Moshi
On Day One of the Simba Private Tour, having arrived at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet with the representatives from Massawe Adventures and transfer to Kilemakyaro Hotel, situated at the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, you will enjoy a peaceful stay ahead of what promises to be an unforgettable safari tour.
Day 2 | Local Tour
Day Two will immerse you in Tanzanian culture. The Local Tour makes for a perfect day trip to acclimatise to the warmer weather ahead of your safari adventure!
After breakfast, you will be met by the Massawe Adventures Tour Guides and driven in a private vehicle to the Materuni Waterfalls. The Waterfall has a reputation for wowing visitors with spectacular views and a memorable atmosphere.
The Local Tour begins in the village by observing the entire process of coffee making as it goes from seed to mug (a treat to tantalise the senses). After a lunch prepared for you with local produce, you will head off to explore Materuni Waterfalls. The Local Tour involves around 8km of walking throughout the day (including 300m of incline). This waterfall adventure is a great warm-up as the Simba tour begins.
Following this wonderful welcome to Tanzania, you will be driven back to the Kilemakyaro Hotel where you will spend your second night.
Day 3 | Lake Tarangire
Following breakfast at the hotel, Day Three begins with a morning departure for Tarangire National Park – the sixth largest national park in Tanzania.
Here, you will have the opportunity to spend the afternoon spotting wildlife in this quieter wildlife haven featuring a wide variety of habitats. Witness majestic herds of Elephants playing and bathing in the Tarangire River – in addition to have the chance to sight Giraffes, Buffalos, Gazelles, and Zebras. Over 545 species of wild animals have been spotted at Tarangire National Park; Lake Tarangire is a fantastic place to spot some of Africa’s most loved wild animals. The lower visitor numbers add to the authentic safari experience, something that our guests have been known to love.
Your third night will be spent at The Tarangire Simba Lodge in the heart of Tarangire National Park. Lucky guests have spotted wild animals from the windows of their bedrooms – an immersive wild animal experience not to be missed.
Day 4 | Lake Manyara
Day Four kicks off with an early morning departure for Lake Manyara National Park.
Described as a hidden gem of Tanzania, Lake Manyara is an extraordinary location to see much-loved wild animals in principal view. Famous for tree-climbing lions and with stories of large herds of elephants greeting tourists in spectacular fashion, Day Four of the ten-day Simba Private Tour will satisfy many of your safari desires!
From swamps and the tranquil lake to the mountainous escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, there are a wealth of habitats to explore. Lake Manyara National Park is located at the base of the East African Rift Valley, parallel to the Gregory Rift. Subsequently, the national park offers spectacular viewing of the escarpment; a magnificent sight to behold. After the safari, the adventure continues onto Karatu, situated on the safari circuit, for an overnight stay at Pembeni Rhotia.
Day 5 & 6 | Ngorongoro Crater
On the fifth day of our tour, your day with begin with breakfast, closely followed by departure to the Ngorongoro Crater; one of the seven natural wonders of the world (sometimes known as “Africa’s Garden Of Eden”). Ngorongoro is to home to a concentrated population of wildlife – showcasing an estimated 30,000 animals including The Big Five. Enjoy a full day of safari before travelling for a second overnight stay at Pembeni Rhotia.
With so much more to see, Day Six will commence with a morning walking safari along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. This on foot safari provides the opportunity to observe some of the smaller animals and birds for a slightly different wildlife spotting experience to what is offered by the rest of the Tour. In addition, the walking tour offers awe-inspiring views of the crater. Binoculars are a must as you could spot rhinos and buffaloes hundreds of metres below – an alternative view of the animal movements at the Ngorongoro Crater!

Day Seven is an opportunity to experience Tanzanian culture for yourself. After breakfast, we will head for Mto Wa Mbu; a small town with cultural diversity of over 120 ethnic groups. Here, there are ample enriching activities to choose from that will bring you into the heart of the town.
You may choose to come alongside the Chagga people in making banana beer, growing rice seedlings or banana farming. Alternatively, you can join the Makonde tribe and try your hand at carving and exploring the food market. We’d encourage you to engage in whichever activities move you most – each has something different to offer you and will leave a sense of what it is like to live in Mto Wa Mbu.
After a busy day, you will stay the night at the beautiful Green Side Luxury Cottages.
