Day 1 | Arrival – Moshi
On Day One of the Tembo Private Tour, having arrived at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet with the representatives from Massawe Adventures and transfer to Chanya Lodge, situated just outside of Moshi. Here, you will enjoy a comfortable stay ahead of what promises to be a memorable safari tour.
Day 2 | Local Tour
Day Two provides you with the opportunity of immersing yourself in local Tanzanian culture. This Local Tour makes for a perfect day trip to acclimatise to the warmer weather ahead of your safari adventure! After breakfast at Chanya Lodge, you will be met by the Massawe Adventures Tour Guides and driven in a private vehicle to the Materuni Waterfalls (just 15km from Moshi Town). Materuni Waterfall has a reputation for wowing visitors with its almighty force and spectacular views.
The Local Tour begins in the village by observing the entire process of coffee making as it goes from seed to mug (a treat to tantalise the senses). After a lunch prepared for you with local produce, you will head off to explore Materuni Waterfalls. The Local Tour involves around 8km of walking throughout the day (including 300m of incline). This waterfall adventure is a great warm-up for the legs as the Tembo tour begins. Following an exhilarating day soaking up Tanzania, you will be driven back to the Chanya Lodge where you will spend your second night.
Day 3 | Lake Tarangire
After breakfast at Chanya Lodge, Day Three begins with a morning departure for Tarangire National Park – the sixth largest national park in Tanzania.
Here, you will have the opportunity to spend the afternoon spotting wildlife in this quieter wildlife haven featuring a wide variety of habitats. Witness majestic herds of Elephants playing and bathing in the Tarangire River – in addition to have the chance to sight Giraffes, Buffalos, Gazelles, and Zebras. Over 545 species of wild animals have been spotted at Tarangire National Park; Lake Tarangire is a fantastic place to spot some of Africa’s most loved wild animals. The lower visitor numbers add to the authentic safari experience, something that our guests have been known to love.
Your third night will be spent at The Tarangire Simba Lodge in the heart of Tarangire National Park. Lucky guests have spotted wild animals from the windows of their bedrooms – an immersive wild animal experience not to be missed.
Day 4 | Lake Manyara
Day Four kicks off with an early morning departure for Lake Manyara National Park, with lunch provided on arrival. Described as a hidden gem of Tanzania, Lake Manyara is an extraordinary location to see much-loved wild animals in principal view. Famous for tree-climbing lions and with stories of large herds of elephants greeting tourists in spectacular fashion, Day Four of the seven-day Tembo Private Tour will satisfy many of your safari desires! From swamps and the tranquil lake to the mountainous escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, there are a wealth of habitats to explore. Lake Manyara National Park is located at the base of the East African Rift Valley, parallel to the Gregory Rift. Subsequently, the national park offers spectacular viewing of the escarpment; a magnificent sight to behold.
You will then stay the night at the serene Karatu Simba Lodge situated a 30-minute drive away from Lake Manyara National Park in the Tanzanian countryside.
Day 5 | Ndutu
On Day Five, we will drive to Ndutu, the North-western area of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, located on the border between Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. This astounding location is renowned area for spectacular sightings of vast migrating herds of wildebeest and zebra during the month of April, a wildlife movement that is quite something to witness!
Day Five’s overnight location is known for beautiful views. Lake Masek Camp promises to be just as much part of your Tembo Private Tour Experience as the safari adventures that we embark upon.
Day 6 | Ngorongoro Crater
On the penultimate day of our Tembo Private Tour, your day will begin with a hearty breakfast, closely followed by departure to the Ngorongoro Crater; one of the seven natural wonders of the world (sometimes known as “Africa’s Garden Of Eden”).
This wonderous site happens to home to a concentrated population of wildlife consisting of an estimated 30,000 animals (including The Big Five). At the Ngorongoro Crater, you will also enjoy lunch before returning to Moshi for a final night’s stay at Chanya Lodge.
Day 7 | Departure
On Day Seven of the tour, we like to offer a degree of flexibility to ensure that you get the most from the last moments of your Tanzanian Stay. From exploration of the town and souvenir shopping to alternative local experiences depending on your areas of interest, we hope to ensure Moshi leave a lasting impression.
